Depending on the specific model (see Table 1) the workstation ensures capturing the full-page document images using different lighting modes (see Figure 1), eg.:
1) white light;
2) IR light;
3) UV light;
4) coaxial light
and use of additional capabilities aimed at document identification.

Special software allows to:

  1. Select the document image in the captured frame and perform its preliminary processing to compensate the illumination and contrast unevenness;
  2. Read information from the document MRZ;
  3. Identify document type and provide users with image and description of sample document from document database (see Figure 2);
  4. Read information from RFID-tags.

Additionally the software allows to:
1. Read text information from the document visual zone;
2. Verify the document authenticity by:

  • compliance with the rules of filling it in;
  • image features under IR light;
  • availability or absence of UV fluorescence;
  • MRZ checksumming;
  • comparing information from the document MRZ and visual zone;
  • other features.

3. Read 1D (Code 128, Codde39, EAN 8/13, ITF, etc.) and 2D (PDF-417) barcodes.
